Funeral assistance will be provided to a member or members who seek financial assistance to assist in the funeral expense for the death of a family member (next of kin or siblings).
Guidelines
- Assistance is for funeral expenses of the member’s spouse, children, parents, and brothers and sisters.
- The amount applied for must be within partial withdrawal eligibility.
- The next of kin is to apply for this assistance within 20 working days from the time of death of the deceased person.
- The maximum withdrawal permitted is F$1,000 for each funeral.
- This assistance shall only be given to members whose deceased relative does not qualify for $2,000 death assistance through Special Death Benefits (SDB) withdrawals.
- If deceased person is eligible for SDB, then funeral assistance shall be processed under the $2,000 death assistance through SDB scheme (refer full withdrawal policy and guideline).
- Payment is made direct to the member.
Documents to be submitted with application
- The member must apply using application Form FNPF W30/3.
- Original or certified copies of the Notice to the undertaker or Medical certificate of cause of death stamped and signed by the hospital medical superintendent/SDMO prior to burial/cremation.
- Original or certified copies of Police Order for Burial.
- Evidence of relationship of deceased to the member.
- If member is applying for siblings funeral expenses, a statutory declaration is required from the next of kin or other siblings authorizing the member to withdraw funds under funeral assistance for the deceased person. Documentary evidence is required to confirm the relationship between the member, deceased person and the person declaring.
- Evidence from the member’s banker confirming the member’s open bank account number for payment deposits. Evidence should not be more than a month old.
Method of Payment
Payment is made direct to the member’s bank account.
