LOCAL EDUCATION ASSISTANCE - GUIDELINES
A member is permitted use of funds within Education eligibility for the following:
- The Fund will assist students for education institutes approved under its Education Assistance Scheme.
- Education assistance shall be for member, spouse, children, brother/sister only.
- Assistance will be provided to students undertaking form 7, vocational and tertiary level education and other equivalent courses recognized by the Ministry of Education and fully registered with Higher Education Commission (HEC).
- The Fund shall assist for tuition fee and accommodation costs and meals only. Amount assisted for form 7 tuition fees shall be net of amount paid by Ministry of Education.
- Assistance for accommodation and meals shall be at hostels approved under the Fund’s Education Assistance Scheme. The maximum assistance for accommodation will be FJ$2,000 per student per calendar year subject to education eligibility.
- Assistance for accommodation costs and meals will only be allowed if member lives outside location of the institute.
- The Fund shall also assist tuition fees for form 7 students with special needs to attend special schools where there is an assessment report from a qualified specialist submitted stating that the student has special needs or is mentally challenged.
- The Fund will only assist for courses that are examinable and may result in the attainment of an academic certificate. Courses where students only acquire certificate of participation will not be assisted.
- If a member has sourced funds from elsewhere for the full or part of the tuition and accommodation costs, the Fund will not reimburse the member for the same costs but will only assist balance if required.
- The request for tuition shall be for the previous and/or current semester/trimester/school year enrolment within a calendar year. Application for payment of fees prior to the abovementioned periods of study will not be accepted by the Fund.
- The Fund will not assist repayment of outstanding bonds or loans.
- The Fund will not assist for examination fees for professional membership.
- The Fund will not assist for on line studies with Overseas Institutes.
- The Fund reserves the right to remove any current or previously assisted courses.
The member must apply on the prescribed application Form (PW02) for education assistance and completed forms and documents of evidence must be originals.
Evidence for tuition fees
- Invoice from institute confirming tuition fees to be paid.
- Documents confirming relationship of the student to the member like birth certificate or marriage certificate.
- Evidence of other funds where FNPF eligibility or funds applied for do not cover the 50% of course costs.
- Evidence that student is enrolled as a student in an FNPF approved institute.
- Documents confirming relationship of the student to the member.
- Invoice for accommodation from approved home stay or hostel.
Method of Payment
Payment is made direct to the school, institute, home stay or hostel.
