FNPF launched new SUPERTxt service
03 March 2011
Members of the Fiji National Provident Fund can now view their account updates and balances on their mobile phones, following the launch of the FNPF SUPERTxt service today.

“SUPERTxt is an entirely new product that satisfies a newly defined market niche through an efficient means by which members can access their balances,” Fund Chief Executive, Mr Aisake Taito said.

“This is an additional stream by which members access their information at their convenience without having to wait in the queues at our Customer Service outlets and information centres,” Mr Taito said.

Mr Taito said the most important aspect of SUPERTxt is that it allows members to be informed at all times of the growth of their Funds, enabling them to proactively follow up on the payment of their contributions.

“This is an innovative product that is aligned to one of the Fund’s reform objectives of enhancing customer services and to our members. The SUPERTxt is as personalized a service as we can get for our members, considering the trustee role we hold for our members,” Mr Taito said.
“Companies must continuously adapt to changing markets, changing technologies, and changing consumer habits and preferences and this is exactly what we have done.
“Each month, the Fund will send out a text to members who have registered their mobile numbers with us, showing their balance and last deposit made into their accounts by their employer.

“This initiative should empower the member to take action in instances where their funds are not paid into their account on time. The SUPERTxt project should provide members easy access and timely information regarding the status of their accounts. We have received numerous complaints from members whose contributions have not been made into their accounts.

“It is the member’s right to have the portion of their wages deducted each pay for the benefit of their retirement,” Mr Taito said.

Mr Taito said that this service would also impel all employers to ensure the deductions are paid in to the Fund on time.

In this manner, Mr Taito added, the new service will also assist the Fund in its trustee role of ensuring members savings are secure for their retirement life.

Present at the launch were Fund representatives led by Mr Taito and Vodafone Fiji team led by Mr Aslam Khan.
