FNPF declares 5.25% interest for FY2011
01 July 2011
The Fiji National Provident Fund Board has declared a 5.25 per cent interest for the financial year ending 30 June 2011 with an estimated $135 million payout to members’ accounts.

FNPF Chief Executive Officer Mr Aisake Taito said the interest will be credited to members’ accounts on Thursday night (June 30).

“This is an indication of our commitment to providing value for our members. Despite the economic challenges faced in the year, we are pleased to be able to announce a relatively higher positive return,” Mr Taito said.

Last year (FY10), the Fund paid out an interest of five (5) per cent totaling $121 million in payout to its members.
In addition, the Board has approved that the Special Death Benefit (SDB) cover be retained at $8,500, with the premium fixed at $35. The premium will be deducted from members’ accounts on Friday, July 1, 2011.

The SDB is a benefit that is added on to members’ balances and paid out to nominated beneficiaries upon a member’s death before he/she reaches the age 55 or retirement.

Mr  Taito assured members that the Board, Management and staff are committed to their fiduciary duty of growing and protecting members’ funds for their financial security on retirement.
