FNPF education scheme

The Fiji National Provident Fund has been providing education assistance to its members for over 12 years now. As at end of FY 2004, the Fund paid out a total amount of $20.4m, to 25,384 members.

The scheme is operated under the provisions of Section 30 of the FNPF Act.

The FNPF education scheme provides the following:
  • Tuition fees for members and their dependants
  • Education related expenses such as boarding fees and text books
The scheme also provides for education overseas for members and their dependants. The main criteria for approval are:
  • Assistance is only for members and their dependants
  • Assistance will depend on eligibility
  • Assistance must be through a recognized institution approved by the Board
  •  
There are a total of 246 institutions on the current FNPF’s approved list comprising:
  • 156 High Schools
  • 39 tertiary and vocational
  • 51 commercial and computer schools
